One of the readers of the website is Randy D., who operates C-GHGN from Minor Bay Lodge in Wollaston Lake in Saskatchewan. He recently e-mailed me to let me know that the only Mk. II in the world is currently at Anoka County Airport in Minneapolis, MN, having it's 600 h.p. PZL engine swapped for a 450 h.p. R-985. The one and only Mk. II is going extinct! I rest easy knowing it will still have a round engine; a turbine conversion would be really sad. I met this airplane in the Grand Marais harbor and it's memory has stuck with me since I was a little girl. I've been craving a meeting with this airplane again, maybe the fact that it's in Minnesota brings me one step closer. I can't remember what the serial number is on this one of a kind Beav, but I recall it was built in 1950.5/02/2009

According to Wikipedia, Harrison Ford owns a MK II, N28S, and DeHavilland may start building them again but, if they do, I'd be amazed if they carry radials.
28S is a Mk I, c/n 855.
C-GHGN is the prototype Mk II, c/n 80.
This info from DHC-2.com which I believe is far more accurate than Wikipedia when it comes to Beavers ;>)
Wasn't arguing, and I'll take your word for it. I was just surfing around and found the trivia interesting... and, unless something else fell through the swiss cheese holes in my brain, Wikipedia's information was a couple of years old.
I'm also strangely obsessed with trivia and Wikipedia.
It is such a shame that an historic example of Canada's aviation past will be no more. Some things are worth the trouble.
Regards,
etc.
ther is also one other 600 hp pzl on cf-bul and as far as i know its still flying
why are you all worried about the engine change?? This is not the original engine anyway!!
It was originally fitted with a 550HP Alvis Leonides british engine for evaluation by the british army.
And yes it was the only MKII built.S/N 80
The PZL engine looks horrible anyway!!

The original engine was a 550HP Alvis Leonides 502/4 british engine and was only fitted to this aircraft for evaluation by the brittish army. The only MKII S/N 80.

C-GBUL is still very active, on Tundra Tires even.
The MkII will still be the only one with the big fin.
At least the view from the office will be better with the R.985.
